Ain’t no party like a Leadville Party, and on Sunday, January 15th, Leadville is bringing the party to Runners Roost. We are very pleased to be hosting the first ever Leadville Lottery Reveal Party!
Back in the early days of the Leadville 100, race founders Ken and Merilee had to convince people that they weren’t going to die running 100 miles at altitude. Today, due to the race’s, as well as the sport of ultra-running’s, increased popularity, the Race Directors have adopted a lottery system for entry into the race.
Those lucky winners will be announced at Runners Roost before the rest of the world finds out. We have special guest Leadmen, Bob Africa and Mike Aish to MC the proceedings. Race founders Ken and Merilee will be on hand to answer questions and kiss babies, and Race Director Josh Colley will be here as well.
So whether or not you signed up for the lottery, it should be a great event! Come out for the New Balance/GU demo run at 3 led by members of the Runners Roost Mountain Ultra Trail Team and special guests, catch up with old friends, compare belt buckles and tales of winter training woes. Warm up with some soup from Real Athlete Diets out of Boulder and crack open a Crazy Mountain Ale.
Attendees will also be able to sign up for 2017 Leadville qualifier events onsite at a 15% discount, including: The Austin Rattler, The Leadville Trail Marathon and Silver Rush. A few spots for the Training Camp will be available as well. Even more importantly the Leadville Race Series folks will be raffling off two Leadville 100 coins that guarantee entry into the event. One for male and one for female attendees of the event who were not chosen via the lottery.
