Getting to Know the Roost: Lone Tree Assistant Manager Mike Vigil

Runners Roost has been a locally owned business since 1977. One of the many ways we have realized our longevity is through community. At Runners Roost we feel it is important for us to understand our community as well as for our community to know who we are. With that we will be featuring some of our staff in our regular blog content so you can meet us and our friendship with our Colorado community can rise to new elevations.

Who is Mike Vigil

I was born here in Colorado just like Runners Roost – both of us are true natives. I have been running and mountain biking for over 20 years with the foothills in my back yard. It was a way to explore the mountains in a whole new way and an escape from the city.  Before my Roost days, I was a welder and fabricator for a waste water treatment plant in Denver. I then moved into the retail industry by managing a Famous Footwear in Westminster. My Runners Roost career began at the Runners Roost in Lakewood 3 years ago (thank you to owners Sonya and Chris)! From there I moved on to working part time at our Aurora location and am now the Assistant Manager in Lone Tree with an awesome store and staff.

Colorado is the best state for outdoor sports. Living in the front range with all its mountain trails, I can’t help but mountain bike and trail run as much as I can. My time off is split between running and riding all the local trails. I have two daughters, one in college and one is an early childhood educator in Denver. My youngest used to explore along with me before she was in college. I have done lots of races like Leadville Silver Rush 50 MTB and the Palmer Lake 24hr death race (my first ultra). I love the running and mountain bike community because they are so passionate about the outdoors. And of course, who can forget all the amazing craft beer that is made here. As a rule, craft beer is an essential to mountain biking. You will almost always see me at Green Mountain Beer Company after a ride. My favorite trail for a ride is Marshal Mesa, and all its surrounding trails. Chatauqua Park and Bear Peak are my favorite running trails. I’m all about all things Colorado. That’s why I love the Roost! Because we inspire and equip Colorado for the run!
